Centos8 /tmp mount
Dear all, in the course of laying down the centos8 operating system layout we (Denny and me) hat a discussion how to proceed with "/tmp“ on servers. Currently, there is no extra partition mounted here and we have 2-3 GB free space available for your use. Widely used setup for web servers is to put a small tmpfs mount here (1-2GB) with "noexec“ mount option. This is more secure and allows for faster script execution. For file transfer operations between servers and your workstations you should use your home directories, anyway. Question: do you use „/tmp" for productive operations on files > 2GB ? We never had monitoring events pointing towards this Migration to centos8 ist a slow process, there is no ad-hoc switch on production systems without testing. Hi all, I think that on the DB server 2 GB could be to less, as MySQL might use it for some operations. As for the data server there I know that some operations (i.e. sort) make use of the tmp dir, but can be configured to use an other dir. Howdy, W xmid-webserver have a tmp-partition 10GB atm. We use tp for some file-generation, but we clean up after some days. Currently the servers use 200MB tmp, but atm there are no bookings, so i wouldnt cosider this safe. Greetings, Felix Am 15.04.20 um 11:59 schrieb Traso g.mann:
