in the last days all servers have received updates of the server system configuration and there are changes for rollouts of servers and software

Release 22.02 (2022-04-27)

Added

  • NTP update playbook
  • GlusterFS plugin installation for docker hosts
  • tool for filtering command line output by host for ansble commands: tools/filter-ansible-command-output
  • weekly “yum clean all” run for centos systems
  • TCP Buffer setup for all server systems
  • xIBE logrotation config for httpd and xibe

Changes

  • ansible: new inventory structure:
    • upstream host is now host property, not a group anymore
    • platform is not derived from class anymore but specified mandatory
    • introduced ‘container’ and ‘kvm_container’ platforms"
  • changed handling of weekly cron jobs, changed nscd config.yml
  • logrotate is running hourly now
  • “dude” tool: better handling of sparse files … skip display of apparent size + fixed displayed line count
  • Kernel version update

Decisions

  • xRes DB binlog retention time 1d

  • automated monitoring setup

  • implemented RPAC Server setup
  • xRes cache node and data server setup with glusterfs volume config
  • xIBE API Server setup: implemented filebeat, httpd vhost config
  • xWeb rework / no glusterfs / unison / hash based loadbalance based on hostname

  • added fast mysql transfer script
  • backup: dump nodata databases as single databases, now
  • replication: implemented relaylog space restriction and parallel replication, fixed mem usage
  • removed old installation of mariadb10.3.16 - not working anymore, need to install from rpm directly

System

  • fixed selinux rollout for vmhosts
  • fix for condition that selinux is enabled completely
  • circumvent cert error when downloading centos7 pgp
  • deactivated backuppc for new no_backup group
  • reworked system logrotation, enabled copytruncate
  • fixed errors in libvirt admin group assignment and polkit config template
  • get-vmhost-ressources now counts kvm guest number
  • postfix/mail setup: resized message limit 10>50MB

Monitoring

  • new automatic rollout of hosts
  • new dynamic disk size check
  • new dynamic network mount check
  • new lacp monitoring
  • added vmhost raid controller quick check script
  • fixed bad default values for collectd

Ansible

  • split xres and monitoring playbook into multiple parts, easier to work with
  • disabled mitogen installation - broken pip package
  • removed ansible.cfg from git, left ansible.cfg.exmaple for copying into place
